Accounts payable officers are responsible for the financial administrations of a business. They review invoices, process and analyse company accounts, pay bills in a timely and efficient manner, and maintain healthy financial relationships between their business and vendors they work with. Their other duties include:
Verifying and preparing invoices
Record cheques received and prepare cheques
Distribute financial reports
Ensuring the legitimacy and efficiency of all the business’ transactions
Accounts payable officers should be very aware of the flow of business operations, taking care to be as efficient and timely as possible. They should be able to keep detailed records and prepare easy to understand financial statements, as well as have excellent time management and organisation skills.
Accounts payable officer’s should have completed a secondary education with a focus on mathematics. They should also have earned an undergraduate or master’s degree in business or accounting, or earned a Diploma of accounting.
